“I began volunteering many years ago escorting residents from Thompson to the Church of the Ascension, next door.  These new friends needed a little help to go and worship God.  I found there were many ways to make new friends at Thompson House.  My own parents had died long before, and I found these opportunities to spend time and do activities (including carpet bowling, darts, and bean-bag toss) with people who were the age my parents would have been.  It is now part of my life.  Better Living gives me inspiration and challenges, both in friendly visiting at Thompson House and in hospice visiting.  Jackie Miller, at Thompson House, and all of my case managers (past and present) have been wonderful as leaders, teachers, counselors and supporters.  I know that my life has meaning, purpose and direction.”
