Better Living at Thompson House is a 136 bed long-term care home providing basic and semi-private accommodations for individuals who have complex medical or support needs. Our highly trained and caring staff work in partnership with our Residents, their families and the Resident’s Council to ensure that the highest standard of care is consistently delivered and the individual needs of each Resident are met.
Thompson House is a smoke-free and climate controlled home providing medical, nursing, physiotherapy, recreation, social work, chaplaincy, hairdressing, housekeeping, laundry and food services to Residents. Our team of professionals and support staff deliver excellence in service in every aspect of restorative, rehabilitative and palliative care. Individuals who call Thompson House home are encouraged to maintain independence and achieve their best quality of life through physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual and social activities.

Applicants must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants with a valid health card from any Canadian province.

The cost of accommodation at Thompson House is set by the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care (MOHLTC). Accommodation rates are adjusted annually and apply to all long-term care homes in Ontario. Eligibility for a rate reduction for those paying the Basic Accommodation rate will be determined by the application of an income test. Residents in preferred Accommodation (Semi-private) are not eligible for rate reductions.
