PalCare has been a beacon of education in York Region and beyond for over 35 years, dedicated to training allied health professionals, Personal Support Workers (PSWs), and volunteers. Each year, PalCare educates approximately 2,000 individuals through various comprehensive programs and partnerships with esteemed institutions such as Seneca Polytechnic, Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO), Community & Home Assistance to Seniors (CHATS), LOFT Community Services, and other notable agencies.
In-Person and Virtual Learning: PalCare offers flexible learning options, including both in-person and Zoom-based training sessions to accommodate the diverse needs of participants.
Workshops: Our workshops cover essential topics such as:
- Grief and Bereavement: Understanding and supporting individuals through loss.
- Cultural Humility: Promoting respectful and effective interaction with people from diverse backgrounds.
- End of Life Practices: Comprehensive approaches to end-of-life care, ensuring dignity and compassion.
Staff Education: Monthly staff education sessions are provided to ensure continuous professional development and up-to-date knowledge in palliative care practices, as well as Self care
Certificate Program: We offer an 8-week “Introduction to Palliative Care” certificated training program, designed to equip participants with foundational knowledge and skills in palliative care, in line with Hospice Palliative Care Ontario(HPCO) training standards
