GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea, a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. Giving Tuesday will take place on Monday, December 2 and is the opening day of the giving season.
This year, our GivingTuesday Campaign will be raising funds for the Meals on Wheels program.
Meals on Wheels delivers thousands of meals every month to Seniors who are isolated, vulnerable, home bound, or living on a very limited income. Many of our Clients cannot easily travel to a grocery store or prepare their own meals safely. Through Meals on Wheels, we help ensure that Individuals receive at least one hot and nutritionally balanced meal each day.
In the first half of this year, Meals on Wheels supported 199 Clients and delivered 7387 meals, including hot meals, frozen meals, milk, and fresh fruit and vegetable boxes. Our team also completed 404 food bank deliveries, helping even more Families access healthy food when they need it the most.
In the month of September, we served 137 Clients, delivered 1252 meals, and completed 50 food bank deliveries. This shows the growing need for support in our community.
