Valuing the Quality of Life, Margaret Bahen Hospice for York Region and Better Living Health and Community Services were honoured to celebrate our first anniversary in the presence of staff, volunteers, and elected officials, both past and present. The evening began with speeches followed by a video and hospice tours. The St. Andrew’s College Pipe & Drum Band also came to perform for the residents and their families. Margaret Bahen Hospice provides comfort, assurance, and compassion during end-of-life care. The Hospice is often referred to as a home and an extended family by many of the clients, their families, and the staff. The Margaret Bahen Hospice features nursing and care staff 24 hrs./day along with social work services, spiritual support, medical care, a pharmacy, complementary therapies and referral to other programs and services. In our first 365 days, 152 residents were cared for with the help of staff and over 150 volunteers donating over 10,000 hours.
