Better Living Health and Community Services provides services within your home, to support activities of daily living and your social and safety needs as long as you choose to live independently. The following services listed below are available to help you remain living independently in your home.
Home Support
Anyone in need of assistance with cleaning their home can access the services of our Home Support Workers. Our team is available to provide light duty home cleaning services, Monday to Friday, and these services include:
Bed Linens
Laundry
Vacuuming
Dusting
Sweeping and mopping floors
Sanitizing the kitchen and bathroom
Cleaning appliances
Essential grocery shopping
Effective Monday June 15, 2020 we will begin to reopen our Home Support program to existing service users. As we start to implement our plans to reopen the Home Support program any new requests will be placed on a temporary wait list. This is to ensure that all current registered service users have the opportunity to resume their services. We will continue to provide updates as this criteria changes.
Home Maintenance
Home Maintenance services provides Clients 55 years of age or older and who are residing in the North York and Mid-Town Toronto communities with assistance with basic household maintenance and repairs, helping to keep our Clients safe in their homes.
The following services are provided by either our team of Registered Brokerage Workers or our Home Maintenance Workers. Rates for services are hourly and vary based on the type of worker needed. Please see Program Fees below for pricing information.

Personal Support
Our team of professional Caregivers provides support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Personal Support Services are delivered by registered Personal Support Workers (PSWs) who are trained to assist our clients with complex needs, such as:
Bathing
Dressing
Personal hygiene
Meal assistance
Palliative care
Ambulation
Social support
Medication management
Caregiver respite
Social Work Services
Our Social Work Services team works with Clients and their Caregivers to ensure that they have the services and supports they require to manage complex or changing needs and age independently at home. They provide assistance by assessing and identifying opportunities for support, advocating for and connecting Clients to community resources, providing counseling, and assisting with the coordination of services. All FREE of charge.
Security Checks
For clients who are living independently and would benefit from a regularly scheduled check-in to ensure their physical well being and security. Our staff work in partnership with a team of volunteers to make telephone contact with those registered for the program, as frequently as necessary, to address their individual needs and/or concerns (e.g. daily, twice daily, weekly). This service is offered free of charge
