Now more than ever our Community Support Services, Long Term Care Home and Residential Hospice services need support from the community. The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly put a strain on our Personal Protective Equipment stock. At this time the usage of PPE is integral to the ongoing safety of our Clients, Residents and our Employees.

As we continue to provide services and care in the community and within our residential facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are inquiring if you currently have any unused and/unopened personal protective equipment that you can spare and donate, such as;

• surgical/procedure masks
• N95 masks
• construction grade masks
• gloves
• gowns
• eye protection
• hand sanitizer

Many of our Clients and Residents have asked us where they can buy a mask for their personal use. In order to keep our stock inventory of PPE dedicated to front line providers and health care workers, we are looking for donations of fabric masks to be given to and used by Clients and Residents. We have encouraged our Clients and Residents to wear a fabric mask when they are receiving services or care from us (i.e. PSW visits or rides in our transportation vehicles).  Fabric masks may also be used by our Employees in low-risk situations when direct care is not being provided (i.e. while using public transit or traveling between client visits).

Please visit the CDC Website for information on how to wear fabric masks and how to make them

If you are able to spare and donate any of the above items, we are accepting them at the following locations:

Better Living at Thompson House
1 Overland Drive
Toronto, ON, M3C 2C3
416-447-7244

We will document the items donated, as well as your name and email address so that we can acknowledge your gift. Please note that social distancing guidelines will be followed during drop-off. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please do not come to drop off donations.

Thank you for your support during these times, if you would discuss this further please email: ehope@betterlivinghealth.org
